Review and manage form fields

Last updated on Sep 9, 2026

Use the Fields panel and selection tools to find, review, reassign, and manage form fields across a document.

The modern Adobe Acrobat Sign authoring experience provides a document-wide view of placed fields. Use it to check field placement and recipient assignments, locate a specific field, or manage several fields together.

Review fields across the document

The Fields panel is closed when you first enter authoring. Select Review to open it.

The panel contains placed form fields only. Suggested-field placeholders aren't included.

Choose how you want to review the fields:

By page

Select By page to organize fields by their location in the document.

The field count for each page shows how many placed fields it contains. Within each page, fields are ordered according to their position on the document, from left to right and top to bottom.

Each field entry shows its field name and field type.

By recipients

Select By recipients to organize fields by assignment.

Each recipient shows the number of fields assigned to them, with those fields grouped beneath the recipient name.

This view is useful when you want to confirm that each participant has the expected fields.

Find a specific field

Search in the Fields panel matches field names only.

Select a field entry to bring that field into view on the document and open Customize field for it. Acrobat Sign positions the selected field near the center of the available document area.

To change the field's configuration after locating it, see Add and configure form fields.

Manage multiple fields at once

Select multiple fields when you need to make the same change to several fields.

You can:

  • Shift-select individual fields.
  • Ctrl-select or Cmd-select individual fields.
  • Drag across multiple fields.
  • Press Ctrl+A or Cmd+A to select all fields.

The contextual panel shows how many fields are selected.

Reassign selected fields

Select the fields you want to reassign.

Select Select recipient.

Choose the intended recipient.

Acrobat Sign assigns the entire selection to that recipient.

Delete selected fields

Select one or more fields and press Delete to remove them.

To create independent copies or linked instances instead, see Copy, clone, and link form fields.

Things to know

  • Selecting a field from the Fields panel also opens Customize field for that field.
  • Selecting a field directly on the document doesn't change the current Fields-panel view.
  • Recipient colors can help distinguish assignments visually, but recipient names and grouping provide the definitive assignment information.
