From the Creative Cloud desktop app, click the updates section.
If you are switching from Premiere Pro versions 13.1.5 or 14.x to the latest 15.x release., use one of the following methods to import preferences and settings.
Method 1
Importing preferences and settings that are stored in the local profile folder
If you have a cloud profile folder located here, use method 2 to import preferences and settings:
- Windows: ~\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\13.0\Profile-CreativeCloud-
or ~\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\14.0\Profile-CreativeCloud - macOS: /Users/'username'/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/13.0/Profile-CreativeCloud
or /Users/'username'/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/14.0/Profile-CreativeCloud
If you have not synced your settings, your settings and preferences are stored in this location:
- Windows: ~\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\13.0 or 14.0\Profile-'username'
- macOS: ~/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/14.0/Profile-CreativeCloud
-
-
Click the Update button for Premiere Pro 15.x.
-
Enable the setting Import previous settings and preference and do not enable Remove old version (you can uninstall the previous version after you have verified that the import preferences and settings has worked successfully).
-
Click Continue to update.
-
Launch Premiere Pro after it has been installed.
-
Create a new project or open an old project. Verify that your preferences and settings have been imported to the latest release.
Custom workspaces may move to the overflow workspace section.
Method 2
Importing preferences and settings that are stored in the Creative Cloud profile folder
If you have synced your settings in the previous release, your settings and preferences are stored here:
- Windows: Click Windows Explorer > Documents and navigate to \Adobe\Premiere Pro\13.0\Profile-CreativeCloud or \Adobe\Premiere Pro\14.0\Profile-CreativeCloud
- macOS: Click Finder > Go > Documents and navigate to Adobe/Premiere Pro/13.0/Profile-CreativeCloud or Adobe/Premiere Pro/14.0/Profile-CreativeCloud
This method copies the Creative Cloud folder from the old release to the latest release. Any setting or preference that was changed in 15.x prior to the copy will not be saved. You will need to manually re-add the setting or preference after the copy has been completed.
-
Launch the previous release (13.1.5 or 14.x) and verify that you see the settings and preferences that you want to import to the latest release.
If you have already installed and launched Premiere Pro 15.x and wish to import the preferences and settings from 13.1.5 or 14.x then start from step 7.
-
Verify that sync settings has a user signed in. You do not need to do another sync settings upload. Save the project and close Premiere Pro.
Note:If you use Sync Settings > Clear settings, this will sign you out of sync settings and remove the creative cloud profile folder. Preferences and Settings will then be taken from the local profile folder. Method 1 should then be used to import the preferences and settings.
-
From the Creative Cloud desktop app, click the updates section.
-
Click the Update button for Premiere Pro 15.x.
-
Enable the setting Import previous settings and preference and do not enable Remove old version (you can uninstall the previous version if you wish after you have verified that the import preferences and settings has worked successfully).
-
Click Continue to update.
-
Launch Premiere Pro after it has been installed.
-
Sign onto Sync Settings and download the settings.
-
Close Premiere Pro.
-
Delete the cloud profile folder that has just been created.
- Windows: ~\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\15.0\Profile-CreativeCloud-
- macOS: /Users/'username'/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/15.0/Profile-CreativeCloud
-
Copy the Creative Cloud folder from the previous release to the user folder in the latest release.
