If you chose the default settings in the software install wizard, Contribute toolbar plug-ins are automatically added to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Office. You can disable or enable Contribute CS5 toolbars in Microsoft Office and web browsers. 

 Disable/Enable Contribute CS5 toolbar in Microsoft Office applications

To disable Contribute CS5 toolbar in Microsoft Office applications

  1. Ensure that all the Microsoft Office programs are closed.
  2. Open a command prompt:
  • For Windows XP, choose  Start > Run, enter "cmd," and click OK.
  • For Windows Vista or Windows 7, choose Start and enter "cmd" in the Search Programs and Files field. Then, right-click cmd app and select Run As Administrator.
  1. Run the following command:

regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute CS5\Plugins\OfficePlugin\OfficePlugin.dll" 

Note: The path can change depending on the installed location of Contribute CS5.

  1. Relaunch the Office application and verify that the toolbar does not appear.  

To enable Contribute CS5 toolbar in Microsoft Office programs 

  1. Ensure that all the Microsoft Office programs are closed.
  2. Open a command prompt:
  • For Windows XP, choose  Start > Run, enter "cmd," and click OK.
  • For Windows Vista or Windows 7, choose Start and enter "cmd" in the Search Programs and Files field. Then, right-click cmd app and select Run As Administrator.
  1. Run the following command:

  1. Relaunch the Office application and verify that the toolbar appears.

To disable Contribute CS5 toolbars in Internet Explorer

  1. In the Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Manage Add-Ons.
  2. Locate “Contribute Toolbar” and “ContributeBHO Class."
  3. Set the status to Disable in the Settings area. Contribute disables the file “contributeplugin.dll.”
  4. Click Close and reopen Internet Explorer to verify the changes.

To enable Contribute CS5 toolbars in Internet Explorer

  1. In the Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Manage Add-Ons.
  2. Locate “Contribute Toolbar” and “ContributeBHO Class."
  3. Set the status to Enable in the Settings area. Contribute enables the file “contributeplugin.dll.”
  4. Click Close and restart Internet Explorer to verify the changes. 

 Disable/Enable Contribute CS5 toolbar in Mozilla Firefox (Windows)

To disable Contribute CS5 toolbars in Mozilla Firefox

  1. Browse to the folder <Contribute_CS5_installed_location>\Plugins\FirefoxPlugin.

    For example, the default path would be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute CS5\Plugins\FirefoxPlugin.
  2. Locate and delete the folder with the name - {01A8CA0A-4C96-465b-A498-65C46FAD54F9}.
  3. Close and restart Firefox to verify the changes.

To enable Contribute CS5 toolbars in Mozilla Firefox

  1. Browse to the folder <Contribute_CS5_installed_location>\App\SupportFiles\FirefoxExtension. 

    For example, the default path would be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute CS5\App\SupportFiles\FirefoxExtension.
  2. Locate and copy the folder {01A8CA0A-4C96-465b-A498-65C46FAD54F9}.
  3. Paste the folder contents in the location <Contribute_CS5_installed_location>\Plugins\FirefoxPlugin.
  4. Close and restart Firefox to verify the changes.

 Disable/Enable Contribute CS5 toolbar in Mozilla Firefox (Mac OS)

To disable Contribute CS5 toolbars in Mozilla Firefox

  1. Browse to the folder <DriveName (OS X 10.5.8)>/Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Extensions/{ed8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}.
  2. Locate and delete the folder with the name - {01A8CA0A-4C96-465b-A498-65C46FAD54F9}.
  3. Close and restart Firefox to verify the changes.

To enable Contribute CS5 toolbars in Mozilla Firefox 

  1. Browse to the folder <installed_locationofContributeCS5>/SupportFiles/FirefoxExtension/.
  2. Locate and copy the folder {01A8CA0A-4C96-465b-A498-65C46FAD54F9}.
  3. Paste the folder contents in the location <DriveName (OS X 10.5.8)>/Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Extensions/{ed8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}.
  4. Close and restart Firefox to verify the changes.
