Creative Cloud Packager can be used to build a package for deployment that grants Creative Cloud Desktop App Elevated Privileges. This allows end users who do not have admin rights to install applications and updates via the CCDA Apps panel.
Some customers report an error in the Apps panel following deployment for users who do not have admin rights. The error is 'Download Error. Administrator privileges are required to install. Please install later.'
Please check the following if this error occurs:
- If Windows is not up to date, that can cause signature validation for the updater service to fail. Ensure that windows is up to date.
- The updater service relies on the files at "%Program Files (x86)%\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Desktop Common\ElevationManager - ensure that these are whitelisted and not blocked by any security policy.
- Ensure that you are running the current version of Creative Cloud Desktop Application as recent updates include fixes for Elevated Privileges issues.
- We also need to ensure that Windows UAC (User Account Control) is turned on for the account that the standard user is logging on with as turning it off would definitely result in "Download Error" on the Apps tab.
