The Dust Removal feature helps remove dust spots in a photo. This AI-powered feature automatically detects and removes dust spots created by dust on your camera's sensor or lens.

  1. Open a photo with dust spots in the Develop module. Select Remove  .

  2. Under Distraction Removal, select the drop-down beside Dust. Lightroom Classic will automatically detect the dust spots in the photo and remove them.

  3. Select a removed spot on the image and refresh or delete it using the buttons in the panel.

An image of a mountain with highlighted dust stops due to camera sensor is opened in Lightroom Classic with the Distraction Removal panel open. The Dust feature removes these sensor dust spots.
The Distraction Removal Dust feature is applied, and the dust stops are highlighted.

  4. Click on the photo to select and include additional spots. Use the Size slider to adjust the size of areas that will be removed.

  5. You can select Reset to switch back to the original photo.

Batch-apply edit settings in the Dust Removal tool

  1. After making the desired edits, right-click on the image and select Settings

  2. Select Copy Settings. In the Copy Settings menu, choose Dust under Remove.

  3. Select or de-select all the other edit settings, then select Copy.

  4. Select the photo where you want to paste these edit settings, right-click on the photo, select SettingsPaste Settings.

    Note

When Dust Removal settings are pasted to other photos, detection will run in each photo to account for changes in spot size and/or location.

  5. You can also select multiple photos and apply the copied edit settings together.
