Intel-based hardware acceleration for encoding

This feature accelerates rendering and publishing on machines that have a third generation or higher variation of the Intel HD graphics. To use the hardware for this acceleration, select Edit > Preferences > General. Check the Use Hardware Acceleration option.

To check if the machine supports hardware acceleration, check the graphics hardware through the Device Manager. If it says Intel HD Graphics 3xxx, 4xxx or 5xxx, there is scope for acceleration. Select this option for usage and deselect for using the software mode. By default, remains ON.

What to look for when using this option on a machine with a capable hardware:

1. Quality

    a. Check for the difference in quality between the hardware enabled and disabled modes.

    b. You can check by exporting to various options through Publish/Share.

2. Performance

    a. Check how quickly the rendering/publishing happens with and without selecting the preference.

3. In case, there are issues seen in functionality, quality or performance

    a. Look for and send the logs created in the following locations

                i. %ProgramData%\Adobe\Premiere Elements\BadDrivers.txt

                ii. %ProgramData%\Adobe\Premiere Elements\CurrentDisplayDriver.txt

                iii. %programdata%\Adobe\Premiere Elements\13.0\EC.txt

                iv. Documents\Adobe\Premiere Elements\13.0\Adobe Premiere Elements13.0.log

    b. Let us know through a bug
