Set default fonts

Learn how to set default and fallback fonts in Adobe Acrobat to maintain a consistent text appearance when adding or editing content in PDFs.

Acrobat allows you to choose specific fonts for adding text and editing text. By setting your preferred fonts, you can ensure a consistent look across your documents.

When editing text in a PDF, Acrobat may use a fallback font if the original font isn’t available on your system. You can set a custom fallback font to control how the text is displayed when the original font is missing.

Windows

Select Menu > Preferences.

Select Content Editing under Preferences

To set a default font for adding text:

  • Select an option from the Default font for Add Text dropdown menu.
  • Select the font size from the Font Size dropdown menu.
Note

To restore the default behavior, you can select Let Acrobat choose in the Default font for Add Text dropdown menu.

To set a fallback font for text editing, select an option from the Fallback font for Editing dropdown menu.

Select OK.

macOS

Select Acrobat > Preferences.

Select Content Editing under Preferences

To set a default font for adding text:

  • Select an option from the Default font for Add Text dropdown menu.
  • Select the font size from the Font Size dropdown menu.
Note

To restore the default behavior, you can select Let Acrobat choose in the Default font for Add Text dropdown menu.

To set a fallback font for text editing, select an option from the Fallback font for Editing dropdown menu.

Select OK.
