Embed fonts using Acrobat Distiller

Last updated on Aug 16, 2025

Learn how to configure Acrobat Distiller to embed fonts in PDFs.

Embedding fonts in PDFs ensures a consistent document appearance across different devices and systems. When converting a PostScript file to PDF, Distiller needs access to the file’s fonts to insert the appropriate information in the PDF.

If the font isn’t embedded, Acrobat Distiller allows you to specify additional font locations to find and embed fonts that aren't directly accessible in the PostScript file. Check the supported font types in Acrobat Distiller to embed fonts in your PDFs accurately.

In Acrobat Distiller, select Settings > Font Locations.

In the dialog box that opens, select Add.

Select the folder that you want Distiller to search the font and select Open.

To exclude TrueType versions of standard PostScript fonts, select Ignore TrueType versions of standard PostScript fonts.

Select OK.
