Issue

You have forgotten the Adobe ColdFusion administrator password and cannot log in.

Solution

  1. Make a backup copy of your neo-security.xml file, which is located in the one of the following paths:

    ColdFusion 8 server editions:

    c:\ColdFusion8\

    &

    /opt/coldfusion8/

    ColdFusion 8 multi-server editions:

    C:\JRun4\servers\ServerInstance\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion

    &

    /opt/jrun4/servers\ServerInstance/cfusion-ear/cfusion-war/WEB-INF/cfusion

  2. Open the neo-security.xml file in a text editor and change 'true' to 'false' for the admin.security.enabled variable tag. For example, search the file for "admin.security.enabled" and change the entry as follows:

    <var name='admin.security.enabled'><boolean value='false'/></var>

  3. Restart the ColdFusion application server.

You should now be able to bypass the login to the ColdFusion administrator. You can reset the password by choosing Security > Administrator.
