Replace a sky in Photoshop.

Turn those gray skies blue, or vibrant, or stormy by choosing a new sky image from our gallery or yours.

  1. Pick your perfect sky.

Open the practice file and choose Edit > Sky Replacement.  Click the sky thumbnail to view more sky images, select one you like, and click OK to place it in the scene.
A man jumps with a gray sky behind him. The Sky Replacement panel shows a gallery of skies with a cloudy, dusk sky selected.

  2. Blend the landscape.

When the new sky automatically replaces the original sky, Adobe Sensei technology adjusts the lighting and shadows to match the scene.

Pro tip: After committing changes in the Sky Replacement panel, check out the new layers in the Layers panel to edit adjustments made by Sky Replacement feature.

  3. Add a custom sky.

To import a new sky or use one of your own, click the sky thumbnail, then click the + button from the sky gallery, and find the image on your computer. Feel free to try our dramatic sunset in your image.

  4. Save for future use.

To share your image, choose File > Export > Export As. Then specify the format, size, and scale appropriate for your digital or print project.
