Create textured models for Sunrise
Uploading assets to sunrise requires a single file that contains a fully textured model. This is why Sunrise requires the use of certain file formats like USDZ that allow for meshes and textures to be stored together.
This is different from pipelines that allow for materials, textures, and meshes to be stored in individual files, and may take some getting used to. Below we’ll cover how to combine textures and models you may already have, to create a single file with various different types of software.
Adobe Substance 3D Stager
Stager allows you to import meshes, materials, and textures as separate files. Inside Stager you can mix and match meshes and materials, and then export combined assets in USDz, GLB, or other formats supported by Sunrise.
To export an object from Stager:
-
-
Use File > Export > Selected... or use shortcut Ctrl + E.
-
Set the format dropdown to use one of Sunrise's supported formats.
-
Choose an export location and start the Export.
Navigate to the file location you selected to find the exported file. If the exported format is supported, you can upload this file to Sunrise as a new asset.
Adobe Substance 3D Painter
If you’ve textured your asset with Painter, it’s possible to export the fully textured mesh as a single USDZ file.
- Use File > Export Textures to open the export window.
- From the Output template dropdown, select “USDz (Apple AR)”.
- Set other export settings as needed and click Export.
The USDz template will output textures as usual, but will in addition output a USDz file that holds all the generated textures and the original mesh. This USDz file can be uploaded to Sunrise for processing.
