Set up knowledge check slides in Adobe Captivate Classic

Captivate Classic provides a Knowledge Check slide that you can use to enforce learning activity for learners. These knowledge check slides are useful when you want your learners not to be graded but to test what they learned by attempting some questions.

Features of knowledge check slides

Knowledge check slide imbibes similar features of question slide without any results, reporting structure and interaction ids.
Knowledge check slides do not participate in reviews.
Random questions are not applicable to this knowledge check slide.
Master slide and controls usage is similar to question slide.
Knowledge check slides can be used to impart the learning on specific topics.

Unlike question slide, if the learner passes over the knowledge check slide and returns to it, the knowledge check slide resets.

Add knowledge check slides

To add a knowledge check slide in project, click Slides-> Knowledge Check Slide as shown here.

Select the type and number of knowledge check slides you want to add.

Types of knowledge check slides

The knowledge check slides are added to your project.
Set up the knowledge check slides as you would any other question slide.

Note:

Scoring will not be enabled in knowledge check slides. You cannot assign or test a learner based on their answers.

Edit knowledge check slide properties

For each question slide, do the following in the Quiz Properties panel (Window > Quiz Properties):

In the Style area specify whether you want gesture support (for use on devices).

You can also edit the background properties and slide duration of the knowledge check slide.

Note:

If you are working with a responsive project, you can also edit device height and slide height of the knowledge check slide.
In the Options area, specify the time limit and the captions to be included:

Correct

Displays a caption that lets users know that their answer is correct or incorrect.

Incomplete

Displays a caption that lets users know that they did not complete the question when they click Skip.

Time Limit

Lets you specify a time limit by when the users have to anwer the question. You can specify the time in seconds (maximum 1800 seconds). You can also click Timeout Caption to display a message to users that the time allotted for the question has expired.

Clear

Resets the slide to the initial view. It allows the user to start answering the questions on a slide by clearing the entered answers.

Back

Takes the user to the previously attempted question slide.

Skip

Allows the user to skip the question slide and move to the next slide.
In the Action area, specify the number of attempts, the retry message, the failure message, and the action to be taken after the learner attempts the question.
