Offer ended | Distance learning support for U.S. K12 students

Applies to enterprise.

Note:

COVID K12 offer has ended

The COVID K12 offer that allowed free access to Creative Cloud desktop applications to students and teachers has come to a close as many schools and districts return to in-person instruction.

At-home access for U.S. K12 students

To support K12 educators and students in this challenging landscape, Adobe is pleased to offer Creative Cloud desktop applications to all students and teachers from August 24, 2020 through August 31, 2021 for our current U.S. K12 volume license customers. You can read the announcement here.

If your institution previously had access to at-home licenses prior to July 6, 2020, we have automatically provided you with the temporary licenses. You do not need to apply again.

New U.S. K12 volume license Creative Cloud customers can also take advantage of this cost-saving for the duration of this offer by purchasing the K12 VIP licensing program for their school or district, which will enable them to then deploy licenses to all students and teachers through August 31, 2021.

For new K12 institutions, to be eligible for this access, your K12 school must be in the United States and a current customer with an active plan. This at-home access is temporary, and will apply to Federated ID or Enterprise ID users in your Adobe Admin Console.

Terms and conditions

These temporary licenses are provided pursuant to your existing agreement of use of Adobe creative software and will be available until August 31, 2021. As a reminder, if you're assigning this temporary license to a student under the age of 13, you are responsible for obtaining any required parental consent before allowing the student to use the software.

As of the end date, users within your institution will be returned to their entitlement level prior to the temporary license request. Additional licenses may be purchased to maintain the prior volume if desired. Any assets created will be accessible by students but subject to the restrictions based on their storage entitlement. The temporary licenses may be provided and removed at Adobe’s sole discretion.

By submitting this request for Adobe to provision users with temporary licenses, you agree to these conditions and the existing license terms and conditions. When the offer expires, you acknowledge that temporary access will be terminated. Members of your organization will be returned to the entitlement level prior to the temporary license request. Any assets created will be accessible by students but subject to the restrictions based on their storage entitlement.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I continue to provide access to students on their personal devices?

Enabling students with digital literacy skills is critical to their success in the classroom and beyond. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills are the cornerstones to unlocking success across disciplines.

Creative Cloud in K12 allows students to develop their digital literacy skills and express their creativity across various media with images, video, and more. Access to Creative Cloud on student desktops allows students to create from anywhere and unlock the full potential of their digital literacy.

If you want to continue providing access to students on their personal devices in addition to lab access, you can purchase Creative Cloud licenses for students and teachers. Contact a reseller or distributor to buy the K12 Creative Cloud All Apps offer.

The government has offered support to K12 schools through COVID relief options if you would like to know more about these resources. Learn more about the different ways to take advantage of government-funded support.

What will be the impact on students when the offer ends?

Access to using apps at home will be revoked, but content and files will not be deleted. The assets will be safe in the directory users in the admin console the school provisioned them in, assuming they used either Enterprise or Federated IDs.

The users can still sign in to their Creative Cloud accounts, but they will not have access to apps on their individual devices. Their libraries will be accessible based on their entitlement in the console.

In other words, students will no longer be able to use the apps on their desktop, but the files will still exist in the directory users in the admin console.

How can teachers access a student’s work after the offer ends? Will the work transfer over?

If Enterprise or Federated IDs were used for deployments, the work is saved in the directory user in the admin console and it is not deleted. Students will still be connected to their assets as the COVID offer did not include any services, only a license to install at home. Temporary Creative Cloud Desktop access does not include any storage, so students will not lose any assets.

Will the sign-in information change? Will accessing the platform be different?

If you had Named User Licenses and your admin information has not changed, the identity or the method for signing in should be the same.

The students are getting a “Try” or “Buy” error while trying to access their apps. How can I fix this issue?

When trying to access their apps, if your K12 students are getting a “Try” or “Buy” error message instead of “Open”, try the following solutions:

Solution 1 Ensure that the user is signed in as their school Federated ID, not a free Adobe ID.
  1. Launch the Creative Cloud desktop app. Click the profile icon in the upper-right corner of the app and click Sign Out.
  2. Sign back in with the  Company or School account.
Solution 2 Check the Admin Console to verify the user has the required Creative Cloud entitlement.
  1. Sign in to the Admin Console, navigate to Users, and search for the user.
  2. Verify the email address and the products assigned. Learn more on how you can add/remove users, and assign licenses to users.
Solution 3 If you have automated user management with the User Sync tool, Microsoft Azure Sync, or Google Sync, ensure that the user is being synced to the correct user group in the Admin console.
  1. Check the sync configuration to see which group the user is being directed to or if they are being added to the Admin Console. Learn more on using the User Sync tool, Microsoft Azure Sync, and Google Sync.
  2. Ensure there is a product entitlement for the group the users are being Synced into. If not, assign a product profile to the user group.
