OnLocation is a direct-to-disk recording, logging, and monitoring solution. OnLocation captures metadata information in the Adobe Story document when you import the ASTX file.
The imported metadata is used to automatically create shot lists in the Project panel. The automation of shot lists saves time and reduces errors by eliminating the need to manually create shot placeholders and metadata during preproduction.
Shot placeholders are automatically created in the OnLocation Project panel. The shot list matches the scenes in the imported Adobe Story script.
You can also further break out each scene according to your production needs. For example, in a three-camera shoot, you can quickly create duplicate placeholders of scenes in various shot sizes. When you create duplicate placeholders, Adobe Story copies all the shot level metadata from a selected placeholder to its duplicate placeholders.
In OnLocation, drag a video file onto a shot placeholder to merge the Adobe Story metadata with the actual video footage. The following formats in OnLocation support Adobe Story metadata: MPEG-2 DV, MPEG-2 HDV, DVCPRO 50, DVCPRO 25,H264 DV (.mp4), XDCAM and XDCAM EX.
For tapeless cameras, ensure that you synchronize the time in the internal clocks of your cameras with the time on your computer. You can perform such synchronization using the Time Stamp feature in OnLocation. When clips are copied from the tapeless camera, OnLocation automatically merges the metadata in each placeholder with the corresponding video clip.

All metadata in the clips is carried over to Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro carries over correct spelling, proper names, and punctuation from the script, benefits that standard speech analysis cannot provide.
The imported metadata helps you perform the following post-production tasks more efficiently.
Locate media assets using details such as their filename, date, time, and camera setting.
While editing, Speech Search in Adobe Premiere Pro helps you search within media assets to locate and jump immediately to keywords in spoken dialogue. The ability to use the embedded Adobe Story script to assist speech-to-text analysis process makes speech search more accurate.
Metadata search can significantly speed the time-consuming process of wading through large quantities of footage to find relevant clips. For example, you can quickly find all clips in a project that contain a particular word.
You can also create rough cuts based on speech-analysis text in Premiere Pro. Add In and Out points directly in the Speech Analysis section of the Metadata panel. Marking In and Out points in text is much faster than marking them in the movie clip.

Use Adobe Media Encoder to batch encode multiple versions of source content to a wide variety of video formats for delivery on various media. Media assets retain metadata captured from Adobe Story scripts or added throughout production in OnLocation and Adobe Premiere Pro.
When you use Adobe Media Encoder to deliver to web video formats such as F4V, the metadata makes it easier for users to search content. The metadata also makes it possible to build customized engaging interactive online experiences. For example, your users can look for scenes that are shot at a specific location.
Dynamic Link lets you open the Adobe Premiere Pro sequences directly in Encore without rendering.
In Encore, metadata can be used as the basis for DVD and Blu-ray Disc subtitles and chapter titles. Encore creates a search database using metadata from speech analysis text in Premiere Pro. The Web DVD interface ensures a more engaging experience by allowing users to search within a web DVD using keywords.
