Learn how to conduct quizzes for quick, real-time knowledge checks of participants in Adobe Connect.

The Quiz pod in Adobe Connect is used to create and conduct quizzes. It supports multiple choice, multiple answers, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, and short answer questions. Quizzes can be timed, and the order of questions and answer options can be randomized. Hosts and presenters can set up the quiz either before or during the session. Questions can also be imported in CSV and GIFT formats for easy setup.

Quiz responses are evaluated in real-time. Hosts can monitor scores and completion rates while the quiz is open. A leaderboard is available inside the room after the quiz ends, and detailed quiz reports are accessible in the post-session dashboard.

Add a quiz pod

To add a notes pod, perform one of the following:

  • From the Pods menu       , select Quiz, and then select New quiz pod.
  • Select   from the top of an existing Quiz pod and select New quiz pod.

Create a quiz

Use the following steps to create a quiz:

  1. After adding the quiz pod, select the type of question.

    • Multiple choice
    • Multiple answer
    • Fill in the blank
    • True or False
    • Short answer
  2. Add the question, answer options, and identify the correct answer choice(s). View Set up quiz questions to learn more.

  3. Select Add another question to add more questions.

  4. Select Show all questions to view the list of all questions. You can change the sequence of the questions by dragging them up and down. Select delete to remove any question from the quiz.

  5. Select Publish.

Multiple choice questions provide several options for participants to choose from.

  1. Add the question.

  2. Add the options.

  3. Select +Add option to add more options.

  4. Select the correct answer.

  5. Select Add another question to add more questions.
    You can change the type of question from the above drop-down for question type. 

    Note:

    If you are changing the type of question after adding the options, it retains the options in case of multiple choice, multiple answers and fill in the blank question.

  6. Select Publish to start the quiz.

Multiple answer questions provide multiple choices, allowing participants to select more than one.

  1. Add the question.

  2. Add the options.

  3. Select +Add option to add more options.

  4. Select the correct answer(s) by selecting the bullet.

  5. Select Add another question to add more questions.
    You can change the type of question from the dropdown for question type. 

    Note:

    If you are changing the type of question after adding the options, it retains the options in case of multiple choice, multiple answers and fill in the blank question.

  6. Select Publish to start the quiz.

Fill in the blank questions allow participants to specify the correct answer in the blank field.

  1. Add the question.

  2. Add the options.

  3. Use the highlighter to select the correct answer within the question statement. By default, the correct answer is marked as option A.

    Note:

    The sequence of the answers gets changed automatically for all participants once the quiz is live.

  4. Select +Add option to add more options.

  5. Select Add another question to add more questions.
    You can change the type of question from the dropdown for question type.

  6. Select Publish to start the quiz.

True or false questions allow participants to choose between true and false for a statement. 

  1. Add the question.

  2. Select the correct answer. (True or False)

  3. Select Add another question to add more questions.
    You can change the type of question from the dropdown for question type. 

    Note:

    If you are changing the type of question after adding the options, it retains the options in case of multiple choice, multiple answers and fill in the blank question.

  4. Select Publish to start the quiz.

A short answer question requires a brief, concise response without extensive explanation. 

Note:

Short answer questions are not scorable.

  1. Add the question.

    Note:

    Participants will be provided an answer field with a limit of 2000 characters.

  2. Select Add another question to add more questions.
    You can change the type of question from the dropdown for question type. 

    Note:

    If you change the question type after adding the options,  the options are preserved for multiple choice, multiple answers, and fill in the blank questions.

  3. Select Publish to start the quiz.

Import quiz 

Instead of adding questions manually, you can also directly import question banks from GIFT or CSV files. This approach is useful if you have to add a large number of questions to the session. You can add at most 10 questions to either format.

CSV: Connect offers a sample CSV file containing the necessary fields to add the questions. Download the sample CSV file here:

GIFT (General Import Format Template) is a standard text file format for saving quiz questions, which can then be shared across different LMSs (Learning Management Systems). View the GIFT format from Moodle for more information.

Note:

The maximum limit of questions in an imported file is 10. 

  1. Select Import Quiz to import the quiz in the given file format.

  2. Select Add all questions.

    Select Change to update the file that you want to import.

  3. Select Add another question to add more questions.
    You can change the type of question from the above drop-down for question type. 

  4. Select Show all questions to view all questions on the same page. You can change the sequence of the questions by dragging them up and down. Select delete to remove any question from the quiz.

  5. Select Publish to start the quiz.

Export quiz 

Hosts can export the quiz questions in CSV or GIFT format for setting up similar quizzes in other rooms, importing questions in Moodle and other LMS systems, or for backup.

  1. From the quiz menu , select Export quiz.

  2. In Export quiz dialog box, choose the format you want to export the quiz.

    You can choose from GIFT or CSV format to export the quiz file.

  3. Select Confirm.

Edit quiz 

The quiz can be edited to add, remove, and manage questions. A quiz can only be edited when it's in a closed state.

  1. Select the Quiz pod options   , select Edit quiz.

  2. Select Add another question to add more questions.

  3. You can perform the following actions to edit a quiz:

    • Change the sequence of the questions by dragging up and down. 
    • Select Delete   to remove any question from the quiz.
    • Select Settings to edit the settings of the same quiz pod.
  4. Select Publish to start the quiz.

Close and reopen a quiz

Once the quiz is live, you'll be able to close and reopen the quiz at any moment during the session.

Select Close quiz now to close the quiz immediately.

Once the quiz is closed, select Re-open quiz as per requirement.

Quiz pod settings

The host can change the settings to set a timer and results and randomize questions while creating or editing the quiz. The host can’t change the pod settings if the quiz is live.

Set time limit
Enable this toggle to set a time limit for the participants. Set a limit using the minute and second dropdowns. The maximum limit is 9 minutes and 59 seconds. You may also extend the time limit in a live quiz. The host can extend the time while the quiz is live.

  1. Select the timer when the quiz is live.

  2. Select Extend time by 30 sec.

  • Randomize question order
    All participants will get the same set of questions, but randomly.
  • Randomize option order for all questions
    All participants will get the same set of questions, but the order of the answers will be random.
  • Show correct answers after quiz submission
    Enable this toggle to display the correct answers to the participants once they have submitted the quiz. 
  • Show result as,
    Percentage
    Select this option to display the result as a percentage.
    Marks
    Select this option to display the result as a whole number. A correct answer is scored as +1 and an incorrect answer is scored as 0.
    You can select any one of them to show the results to participants.

Broadcast the result

As a host, you can make the results publicly available after you end or close the quiz. Select the toggle Make results public so that they can be displayed to all participants as a leaderboard.
