Design a business card

You can quickly create a business card with the basic understanding of Illustrator.

• Printable business card is two-sided, which means you need two artboards. Arrange them by column.
• Check out the dimensions and orientation of the card
• Choose the document color mode based on the medium of publishing. CMYK works well for print and RGB for the web (File > Document Color Mode)
• Choose the background as transparent, colored, image
• Select the raster effects as high resloution (300 ppi)
• Specify the bleed areas for the printable cards to specify areas where the graphics or text is imposed

Set up the document

The first step is to set up a document to create your business card. If you're creating a printable card, the dimensions of the card will be determind according to the printing studio. Let's create a card with dimensions 12x18 inches.

Fonts, Color, Text

Add a new layer. Plan the grid, which will help you decide the size of card. Keep it close to standard BC size.

Tip: Enable Snap to Point and Smart guides which will help align better avoid gaps between cards.
