Use FX badges

Last updated on Sep 16, 2026

Learn how to use Fx badges to check the effects and transitions applied to a clip.

Note

This feature is available only in Advanced mode.

FX badges in Premiere Elements help you identify the effects, transitions, and adjustments applied to a clip and provide quick access to related editing controls. They appear at the top-right corner of clips in the Timeline and let you quickly access and manage effects and transitions without leaving your editing workspace.

Right-click the FX badge to view the effects, transitions, and adjustments applied to the selected clip.

Right-click the FX badge to access the available effect, transition, and adjustment options for the selected clip.

Use the FX badge to quickly access effects, transitions, and adjustments, then edit supported properties directly from the Timeline.

Note

Clicking the FX badge opens the Effect Controls panel by default. If the selected clip has only a transition applied, clicking the FX badge opens the Transition Controls panel.

Select Add Effects to open the Effects panel, or Add Transition to open the Transitions panel. Choose the effect or transition that you want to apply to the selected clip.

Select an applied effect or adjustment property from the FX badge menu to highlight its corresponding rubber band on the Timeline. Drag the rubber band up or down to adjust the property's value directly from the Timeline.

Tip

Select an effect or adjustment from the FX badge menu to highlight its corresponding rubber band on the Timeline. Drag the rubber band up or down to fine-tune the selected property without opening additional panels.
