Error installing add-ons

When you try to install add-ons for Creative Cloud products, installation fails. An error message is displayed stating that the add-on is incompatible with Adobe applications.

"Add On installation failed" message

Try these solutions:

1. Check compatibility of add-ons with Creative Cloud products

Have a favorite plug-in from a previous version of any Creative Cloud application that you’d like to use? Check the Adobe Add-ons page (or the third-party plug-in developer’s website) to see if an updated version exists.

2. Use a different browser

Often, the easiest way to resolve failed downloads is to try the download again using a different browser. For example, if you're using Internet Explorer on Windows, try Firefox. If you're using Firefox on macOS, try Safari.

3. Relaunch the Creative Cloud desktop app

Sign out from the Creative Cloud desktop application, and then sign back in. For details, see Sign in and sign out to activate or deactivate Creative Cloud apps.

4. Ensure that the add-on is available in the Creative Cloud desktop app

Successful installation of an add-on that is compatible with any Creative Cloud application is displayed in the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  1. Check that the installation of your add-on is listed under the Activity Stream section of the Home tab.
  2. Relaunch the application.

5. Restart the Adobe application

Exit the Adobe application and then launch it again.

6. Uninstall the application, and then reinstall it

This solution is for products other than Dreamweaver and Flash Pro CC. For these two products, continue using the previous versions until a fix is available.

This solution works for most situations. If it does not work for you, use the previous version of your product until a fix is available.
