Last updated on Aug 17, 2026

Compare extracted attribute values between two documents to identify differences in key information.

Use document comparison to validate changes between versions, confirm that extracted values align, or identify discrepancies across related documents.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • You can access the collection that contains the documents.
  • Both documents have finished processing.
  • Attribute extraction is complete.

Compare two documents

Document comparison uses a three-step workflow:

  1. Select documents.
  2. Select attributes.
  3. Review the comparison.

Select documents

Open the collection that contains the documents.

  • You cannot compare files in the All Files view.

Select one or two documents.

  • If you select one document, select Compare documents, and then choose the second document.
  • If you select two documents, select the Compare documents icon from the actions above the document list, and go ahead to step 4.

Select Next.

You can compare a maximum of two different documents from the same collection.

Select attributes

Expand an attribute group.

Select one or more attributes to compare.

At least one attribute is required.

Select Compare documents.

Expanded attribute groups allow targeted comparison by selecting only the fields relevant to your review.

Review the comparison

The results display:

  • Attribute name
  • Value from the first document
  • Value from the second document
  • Match or No Match status

No Match results appear first so you can review differences quickly.

Select a citation to open the source location for an extracted value in either document.

The comparison view links each attribute value to its source location in both documents, allowing you to review differences in context.

Comparing documents does not modify either document or the collection.

How Analyzer determines a match

Analyzer normalizes extracted values before comparing them.

It then evaluates values using:

  • Exact string matching
  • Exact numeric matching
  • Exact date matching using ISO-formatted dates

If the values do not meet the applicable matching criteria, Analyzer returns No Match.

Export comparison results

Select the Export icon in the comparison results to download the results as a CSV file.

When to compare documents

Use document comparison to:

  • Validate a signed agreement against an approved version.
  • Review differences between document versions.
  • Confirm extracted values before using them for filtering or analysis.
  • Identify discrepancies in important document data.
