Replace an incorrect extracted attribute value for a file without changing the attribute definition or running another extraction.
Use a manual override when an extracted value is incorrect for a particular file and you need a corrected value for review, filtering, or comparison. The override applies only to your view of that value.
Before you begin
Make sure:
- You have access to the collection containing the file.
- The file has extracted attribute values.
- You understand that overrides are user-specific. Other users continue to see the extracted value or their own overrides.
Override an extracted value
Open the file for review.
Locate the extracted attribute you want to correct.
Select the ellipsis next to the attribute value.
Select Override value.
Enter the corrected value.
Select Override.
Confirm the override.
What happens after you override a value
After you override a value:
- The manually entered value replaces the extracted value in your view.
- Other users continue to see the extracted value or their own overridden value.
- Analyzer displays an indicator showing that the value was manually overridden.
- The override remains in effect if the attribute is updated or the collection is refreshed.
- The value changes only when you explicitly re-extract that attribute for the file.
- You can identify overridden values using Filter data and Override Values.
- If you export extracted data, overridden values do not include attribution or explanation details.
When to override a value
Use an override when:
- Extraction produced an incorrect value for one file.
- You need a corrected value to filter a collection accurately.
- You need corrected values when comparing files by attribute values.
An override corrects the value for your work; it does not correct the underlying attribute definition. If the same problem occurs across multiple documents, refine or test the attribute instead.
