Open the collection that contains the file you want to tag.
Tag a file in a collection to flag it for review and filter for it later.
Use tagging when you’re reviewing a collection and want a quick way to narrow the file list without creating attributes or changing the collection. Tagging applies a single on, off state per file. You can then filter the collection to show only tagged files, which is useful for building a short list of items to compare or revisit. If you share a collection, other users can see which files you tagged and can filter by that tag, but they can’t apply or remove tags themselves.
Before you begin
- You have access to the collection that contains the file.
- You own the file. Only the file owner can tag or untag the file.
- If you have shared access to a collection, you can view tags and filter by them, but you cannot tag or untag files.
Tag a file
-
-
Locate the file using the Search field, or the File name and Document title column.
-
Select the Tag Document icon for the file.
What happens after you tag a file
- The Tag Document icon turns color and remains visible for that file in the collection list.
- The tag becomes available as a filterable value, so you can filter the collection to show only tagged files.
- The tag remains applied until you untag the file.
When to tag a file
- You want to mark a particular file for follow-up during manual review.
- You want to narrow the collection to a subset of relevant files by filtering in or out the tagged files.
- You want to iteratively refine a set of relevant files by tagging, filtering to tagged files, and untagging files that don't match your criteria.
