Error 10:10 is displayed while trying to view PDF in Internet Explorer using Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader plug-in

While viewing a PDF in Internet Explorer using Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader plug-in, the following error message is displayed: "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (10:10)".

Workaround: Enable the protected mode in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader

  1. In Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, choose Edit > Preferences.

  2. In the Categories list on the left, select Security (Enhanced).

  3. In the Sandbox Protections section, select Enable Protected Mode At Startup, and then click OK.
