Thanks to collaboration between the Modeler development team and Adobe Research teams, there are many new features that we’d like to integrate into Modeler. Often, these features require more iteration and testing, so we have restarted the Free Public Beta program for Modeler.
The Beta program gives you the chance to try out new functionality, features, and tools before they reach the retail version. These features are often in active development, so your feedback and suggestions help guide how they will ship in the retail version of Modeler. We cannot guarantee the stability of Beta versions of Modeler or their save files, and therefore do not recommend using the Public Beta for actual production work.
Access to the Public Beta is free and only requires an Adobe account. You do not need a license to any other Adobe apps to use the beta.
Join the Free Public Beta
To get access to the Beta, you first need to download and install Adobe Creative Cloud.
-
-
Open the Apps tab.
-
In the top bar of the Apps tab, select Beta.
-
Click Install next to Substance 3D Modeler (Beta).
-
Once Installed, you can open the Modeler Beta from the Beta section of the Apps tab. If you have the retail version of Modeler installed, it will stay separate from the beta installation. While save files from the beta version of the app may load in the retail version of Modeler, this is not guaranteed, so it is recommended to keep files saved in the Beta in a separate folder from those saved in the Retail version of Modeler.

Join the Public Beta through Steam
The Public Beta is also available through Steam if you already own Modeler on Steam.
It is not possible to access the Public Beta through Steam without having previously purchased Modeler. This is because Modeler needs to exist in your Steam library so that you can access the Betas menu.
-
Navigate to your Steam library.
-
Find Modeler in your library. You may need to toggle the library filter to show Software.
-
Right click Modeler, and select properties.
-
In the Properties window, navigate to Betas in the left panel.
-
Use the Beta Participation dropdown to opt-in to the Modeler Public Beta.
-
Steam will automatically update the downloaded version of Modeler to the Beta version. To return to the non-Beta version of Modeler, follow the instructions above and set Beta Participation to none.
