Refresh a collection's attributes in Analyzer in Sign

Last updated on Aug 17, 2026

Refresh a collection's attributes to apply newly created attributes and update extracted values using the latest attribute definitions.

Analyzer automatically extracts attributes when documents are added to a collection. Refresh the collection when existing documents need to be processed against new or updated attribute definitions.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • The collection contains documents.
  • At least one attribute exists.
  • Any changes to attribute definitions are saved before you refresh.

Refresh attributes in a collection

Open Collections.

Select the collection you want to update.

Select Refresh outdated attributes.

Do not select individual documents. Refresh applies to the entire collection. If you select one or more files, the icon to refresh will be suppressed.

When prompted, select Refresh all.

Collection view with the Refresh outdated attributes icon highlighted.
Refresh operates at the collection level, so individual document selection is not required.

Analyzer reprocesses the collection using the latest version of each attribute. Processing time depends on the number of documents and attributes being updated. Files still being processed display a progress indicator.

Progress indicators identify documents whose attribute values are still being refreshed.

When processing finishes, the collection displays updated extracted values based on the current attribute definitions.

When to refresh attributes

Refresh a collection when:

  • You create a new custom attribute.
  • You update an existing attribute definition.
  • Documents are added, updated, or reprocessed.
  • Extracted values do not reflect recent configuration changes.
  • Attribute values appear incomplete or inconsistent.

What refresh updates

Refreshing a collection's attributes:

  • Applies newly created attributes to existing documents.
  • Updates previously extracted values when attribute definitions change.
  • Extracts values for documents added since the previous run.

Refreshing does not change the attribute definitions themselves.
