Refresh a collection’s attributes in Adobe Acrobat Analyzer

Manually trigger attribute extraction on a collection to apply newly created attributes and update existing stale values.

Refreshing a collection’s attributes re-runs extraction using the current attribute definitions. Use this action after creating or updating attributes, or after adding documents, to ensure the collection reflects the latest extracted results.

Before you begin

  • The collection must contain documents.
  • At least one attribute must exist.
  • Save any attribute changes before refreshing.

Refresh attributes in a collection

Acrobat Analyzer automatically extracts attributes when documents are added to a collection. If documents change or new attributes are created after the original extraction, manually refresh attribute data.

  1. Go to Collections.

  2. Select the collection you want to update.

  3. Select the Refresh outdated attributes icon.
Do not select individual documents. The refresh applies to the entire collection.

  4. When prompted, select Refresh all.

The collection view with the "Refresh outdated attributes" icon highlighted

Acrobat Analyzer reprocesses the collection using the latest version of each attribute.

    • Processing time depends on the number of documents and the number of attributes being updated.
    • Files that are still being updated display a circular progress icon.
A list of updating documents with the "Updating" graphic visible.

When processing completes, the collection displays updated extracted values based on the current attribute definitions.

When to refresh attributes

Refresh attributes when:

  • You create or edit a custom attribute.
  • Documents are added, updated, or reprocessed.
  • Extracted values do not reflect recent configuration changes.
  • Attribute values appear incomplete or inconsistent.

What this action updates

Refreshing a collection’s attributes:

  • Applies newly created attributes to existing documents.
  • Updates previously extracted values when attribute definitions change.
  • Extracts values for new documents added since the last run.

This action does not modify the attribute definition itself.
