Missing menus in Illustrator

Issue

When you click any menu such as File, Edit, Object, and so on in the Illustrator workspace on your Windows computer, the menu disappears unexpectedly.

Solution 1: Rename the UXP folder

Rename the UXP folder to ~UXP.

  • (Windows) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP
  • (macOS) Navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP

Solution 2: Run the command: netsh Winsock reset

  1. Close all applications.

  2. Choose Start and type CMD to launch the command prompt.

  3. Type the following command at the command prompt: netsh Winsock reset

  4. Press Enter.

  5. Close the command prompt window.

  6. Restart your computer.

  7. Launch Adobe Illustrator.

Solution 3: Test in Safe Mode

Booting the system in Safe Mode starts your system in a manner that it performs certain checks and prevents third-party software/services from automatically loading or opening.

Learn how to start your system in Safe mode for MacOS and Windows.

If Illustrator launches fine in the Safe mode, then there could be some third-party services or applications like antivirus, plugins, or web extensions that are conflicting with the launch of Illustrator. Disable the conflicting program on your user account and then launch Illustrator.
