Creative Cloud login item issues on macOS

Last updated on Apr 24, 2026

If you turn off the Adobe Creative Cloud or CC Library login items in macOS 13 (Ventura) and later, it will disrupt the functioning of your Creative Cloud apps and services. To avoid this issue, keep both login items turned on in your Mac's System Settings.

We strongly recommend that you keep the Adobe Creative Cloud login item (available on macOS 13 Ventura and later) and CCLibrary login item (available on macOS 26 Tahoe and later) enabled in macOS. Turning them off stops many of Adobe's core processes, which are required for the apps to function seamlessly. These critical processes are doing their job even when you're not working in any of your Adobe apps.

Creative Cloud login items are turned off

If you turn off the login items feature for Adobe Creative Cloud or CC Library, you might encounter the issues listed in the table.

Apps

Issues you might encounter

  • Your Creative Cloud Libraries and files won't sync to the cloud.
  • You won't be able to activate, deactivate, or use Adobe Fonts in third-party apps.
  • Each time you launch the Creative Cloud desktop app, you're prompted for your administrator password to install or update.
  • You won't receive any notifications related to comments, invitations to edit, and other important updates, and you won't be able to turn on Notifications in Preferences.
  • Your installed apps may not open in the offline mode due to licensing issues.

  • If the CCLibrary login item is turned off, Libraries sync stops working across all Creative Cloud apps.
  • If the CCLibrary login item is turned off, cloud documents sync stops working across all Creative Cloud apps.

Follow the steps to fix login issues.

Note

For Adobe Fonts sync to work, keep the Creative Cloud desktop app running. For Libraries and cloud documents sync, make sure the CCLibrary login item is turned on (macOS 26 and later).

Select Apple menu > System Settings on your Mac, and then select General.

Select Login Items & Extensions.

The Login Items & Extensions button, available under the General tab in System Settings window, allows you to select which apps you want to run when you log in to your device profile. .
The Login Items & Extensions window lets you enable or disable app launch when you log in to your device profile.

Scroll to App Background Activity.

Turn on the Adobe Creative Cloud toggle under the App Background Activity section. If you are on macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, turn on the CCLibrary toggle also.

The Adobe Creative Cloud toggle button under App Background Activity allows you to enable background activity of your apps.
Open the drop-down menu by selecting the expand icon > next to Login Items.

If you turned on the Adobe Creative Cloud toggle, restart your device, and then open the Creative Cloud desktop app

You can now access all features and continue working on your apps seamlessly.

Note

If you only turned on the CCLibrary toggle, a system restart is not required. You can launch the affected app instead.
