Error 2 causes installation failure

Last updated on Dec 9, 2025

Learn how to resolve error code 2 "AdobeGenuineClient package broken" during app installation.

Error code 2 occurs when one or more files inside the AdobeGenuineClient folder are missing or corrupted. This folder contains essential files that help the Creative Cloud desktop app verify the authenticity of your Adobe software. If these files are damaged, incomplete, or deleted, the installer cannot perform the verification, and the installation fails.

This can happen if the Creative Cloud desktop app is outdated or if files were accidentally removed during a cleanup.

You can find the AdobeGenuineClient folder at these locations:

  • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Desktop Common\AdobeGenuineClient
  • macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Desktop Common/AdobeGenuineClient

Missing or incomplete AdobeGenuineClient package

To resolve this issue, ensure your Creative Cloud desktop app is up to date.

Select the Apps tab in the left pane.

In the upper-right corner, select Check for updates.

If any updates are available, install them.

Once the updates are installed, the Creative Cloud desktop app recreates the Adobe Genuine Service files and replaces any missing or corrupted components.
