Fix downloads and exports that fail, stall near 90 percent, or won’t finish in Adobe Express on the web or the desktop app.
Start with these quick checks
- Check the Adobe status page for an active Adobe Express incident.
- Wait until the upload indicator on each asset clears.
- Try the export again.
What's happening with your export
Fix a download or export that fails in Adobe Express. Use the steps for what happens when you try to export.
The progress percentage is an estimate, not a live status. A large or complex project can take a few minutes, so give it time before you cancel.
Your project could be large or complex. Your project may take longer to export if it has:
- Many pages
- High-resolution images
- Multiple video assets
- Stock video
- Complex effects
Many exports that look stuck finish on their own.
- Wait several minutes before you cancel, because a large export can finish on its own.
- If the export is still stuck, reduce the project size in one of these ways:
- Export fewer pages: select only the pages you need.
- Use lighter assets: remove or replace very large or high-resolution assets.
- Export the project again.
Export is blocked until all videos and other assets in the project have finished uploading and saving to the cloud. You can preview, clip, and split a video while it's being uploaded, so it can look ready when it isn’t. Check for an upload icon or spinner on the asset. During an Adobe service disruption, stock video uploads can also be delayed.
- Wait for the upload indicator on the asset to clear.
- Avoid refreshing the page while the upload is finishing, as it can restart the upload.
- Confirm your network connection is stable.
- If an asset stays stuck, re-upload or replace the pending video.
- If the upload still won’t finish, remove the pending asset to unblock the export.
A browser or app session problem can interrupt exports. An outdated browser or Adobe Express desktop app, browser extensions, or cached data can all get in the way.
- Update your browser, or the Adobe Express desktop app if you use it, to the latest supported version.
- Confirm your setup meets the Adobe Express technical requirements.
- Sign out of Adobe Express.
- Sign in again.
If the problem continues, refresh your session for the web or the desktop app:
- On the web: clear your browser cache and cookies, or try refreshing your Adobe Express session. To rule out an extension, test the export in a private or incognito window.
- In the desktop app, restart Adobe Express, then try exporting again.
If only one format fails, check the export size. Each format has a supported size range, so a page that falls outside one format's range can still export in another. For example, an MP4 export fails, but a GIF succeeds.
- Check your page size in Resize or page settings.
- Adjust the height and width to fall within the supported range for your format:
- MP4 video: between 146 x 146 px and 4096 x 4096 px.
- GIF animation: between 50 x 50 px and 4096 x 4096 px.
- Export the project again.
If PDF export fails but PNG or JPG export works, a font in your design might be the cause. Custom fonts you uploaded can block PDF export. Use these steps to replace them:
- Check your project for custom fonts you uploaded.
- Change any text that uses a custom font to an Adobe font.
- Export the PDF again.
A single incomplete or problematic asset can block an export. Common causes include
- A stock item
- A generated sound effect
- An image with Remove Background applied
- A large or damaged file you just imported
When Adobe Express detects problematic assets in your project, it displays a panel listing them. Use the panel to fix each one:
- In the panel, select a listed asset. Adobe Express takes you to that asset in your project.
- Replace or remove the asset.
- Repeat for each asset in the list.
- Export the project again.
Corporate networks, VPNs, proxies, and firewalls can block the connections Adobe Express needs to finish an export. Static images usually download fine, but PDF, MP4, or GIF exports fail or download corrupted. If the export works on a different network, your usual network is likely blocking it.
- Test the export on a different network, such as a mobile hotspot.
- Turn off your VPN.
- Export again on your usual network.
- Ask your IT administrator to allow the domains and endpoints required for Adobe apps and services.
Report the problem
If none of these steps work, report the problem so Adobe can investigate. Include the following details:
- The document link or ID
- Your browser or Adobe Express desktop app version, and your operating system
- The file type you’re exporting
- The approximate time of a failed export, in UTC
- Edit access to the original project, not a duplicate
- A HAR file captured while the export fails, if possible
