Imported Illustrator PDFs in Adobe Express grow in size after export

Under review

Summary

When exporting PDFs, the system may rasterize content if the file contains advanced design features, resulting in large export sizes.

Next steps

If the PDF contains advanced design features such as gradients, complex transformations (rotation, skew), blend modes, transparency, pattern fills, complex clipping paths, or advanced stroke effects, it may trigger rasterization and result in larger export sizes. To minimize this, try simplifying your design by reducing these elements where possible. If that’s not an option, rasterization may occur and could increase the file size.

Summary

Next steps

The progress indicator is currently a visual representation, but it may not reflect the exact stage of the export process. When you see it at 90%, that does not necessarily mean the export is stuck; it may actually be at an earlier phase of loading. Our team is working to provide a more accurate display of progress.
