In April 2016, the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team issued Alert TA16-105A. This alert recommends that Windows users uninstall Apple QuickTime from their computers.
Adobe has been working extensively to remove dependencies on Apple QuickTime in its applications. Native decoding of many .mov formats (such as uncompressed, DV, h264, JPEG) is now available. Native export support is also possible for DV in .mov wrappers.
However, some codecs (such as Animation, BMP, RLE, PNG, Sorenson 1, Sorenson 3, and .mov files containing such codecs) remain dependent on QuickTime being installed on Windows. These codecs may not be imported/exported from Premiere Elements.
