Review an asset | Substance 3D Reviewer

Substance 3D Reviewer has a collection of tools that you can use while reviewing assets to maximize collaboration with others:

  • Move the asset to see it from all angles.
  • Comments are useful for making note of issues to work on or collaborating asynchronously with other users.
  • Pins attach comments to specific locations on the asset.
  • The Laser pointer helps to point out specific areas to other users in the review.

Move the asset

You can move and rotate the asset both on desktop and in VR, although the controls are different depending on your platform.

If you want to reset the position of the asset, use the Reset button in the Top bar on desktop or in the Quick access menu in VR.

Comments

Comments allow you to log issues and communicate asynchronously with team members.

The Comments panel works in the same way across desktop and VR.

Pins

You can use pins to attach comments to specific areas on your asset. This makes it easier to call out specific issues directly, instead of describing a location in the comment. Learn how to use pins here.

Use the laser pointer

You can use the Laser pointer to point out specific areas on the asset in real time with other users in a review. To use the Laser pointer:

  • On desktop, equip the Laser pointer from the Left bar or hold Spacebar.
  • In VR, hold PT and aim the Laser pointer with the primary controller.
