Learn how to fix Error 192 when Adobe app installation fails because a newer version is already installed on your device.

A newer version is already installed on your system

Uninstall the existing version on your system, and then reinstall the app.

Select the Creative Cloud   icon in the Windows taskbar or the macOS menu bar to open the Creative Cloud desktop app.

In the left sidebar, select the Apps, then choose Your apps.

Select Your apps to view all the apps installed on your machine
The Your apps view displays only the Adobe apps currently installed on the device, making it easier to manage app-specific actions.

Select the More actions  icon. This opens the context menu.

The All apps tab showing all Creative Cloud apps with the three dots button for each app.
The More actions menu provides quick access to app management options, including uninstalling the app and viewing additional app details.

Select Uninstall.

The context menu for a Creative Cloud app includes options to open in the browser and uninstall.
Uninstalling the existing version removes version conflicts and allows Creative Cloud to install the selected app version successfully.

When prompted, select one of the following based on your preference:

  • Keep: Retains the app notifications, alerts, interface settings, plugins, and other preferences
  • Remove: Removes the app notifications, alerts, interface settings, plugins, and other preferences
  • Cancel: Cancels the uninstallation
The preferences window asks if you want to keep or remove notifications, alerts, plugins, and other preferences. You can also cancel the uninstallation process.
Select Keep to preserve custom settings and plugins, helping maintain your existing app configuration after reinstalling.

Install the app again.

If needed, you can also install an older version of your app using the Creative Cloud desktop app.
