    Use your redemption code

If you purchased your Adobe product from a retailer or an Adobe reseller, you may have received a redemption code. You must redeem this code before you can start using your product. To redeem a Creative Cloud membership, go to Redeem your Creative Cloud membership.

    Redemption code - alphanumeric

A redemption code is an alphanumeric code containing both letters and numbers. It is often found on a card you purchased from a store or other reseller. For help finding your code, see Locate your redemption code below.

    Serial number - numeric

A serial number is a 24-character string of numbers only. It may be found on the disk sleeve of your Adobe product, inside a product box, or in an email from a retailer or Adobe reseller.

    Note:

If you have a serial number, you don't need to redeem a code before installing your product. See Download and installation help if you need help.

You don’t need a serial number to install or launch an app purchased through a Creative Cloud plan or a Document Cloud subscription. To start using your software, simply activate your redemption code. Here’s how:

    1. Tip:

URL doesn't match? If your redemption code instructions show creative.adobe.com/educard, rather than creative.adobe.com/redeem, see Serial numbers, redemption codes, and product codes | Student and Teacher editions.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • Have an Adobe ID? Enter it and your Adobe password, and click Sign In.
      • Don't have an Adobe ID? Click Sign Up and follow the onscreen instructions.
    3. In the screen that appears, enter your 24-character alphanumeric redemption code and click Activate Membership.

19-character code? If your card has a 19-character code, you may have a product code for a Student and Teacher edition. See Serial numbers, redemption codes, and product codes | Student and Teacher editions.

      Enter redemption code
      Tip:

Get an “invalid code” error? Make sure that you found the right number (24-characters with both letters and numbers) and that you typed it correctly. It is easy to confuse some numbers and letters, such as zero and one with the letters "O" and "I."

    4. Read the renewal plan terms and click Accept Terms & Conditions.

    5. If prompted, enter billing information and click Save.

    6. Click Get Started.

      Get started
    7. You now have access to the apps that are included in your membership plan or subscription. Click Open the Creative Cloud app to start downloading your software.

You do not need a serial number to install Creative Suite 6 (CS6) products. Here's how to redeem your code for CS6 and start using the product.

    1. Do one of the following:

      • Have an Adobe ID? Enter it and your Adobe password, and click Sign In
      • Don't have an Adobe ID? Click Get an Adobe ID and follow the onscreen instructions.
    2. Enter your 24-character alphanumeric redemption code and click Redeem.

19-character code? If your card has a 19-character code, you may have a product code for a Student and Teacher edition. See Serial numbers, redemption codes, and product codes | Student and Teacher editions.

      Enter your redemption code
      Tip:

Get an “invalid code” error? Make sure that you found the right number (24-characters with both letters and numbers) and that you typed it correctly. It is easy to confuse some numbers and letters, such as zero and one with the letters "O" and "I."

    3. Click Download. Adobe Application Manager downloads and installs your application. If you received product disks, you can also insert a disk to begin installation.

      Click Download

Asked for a serial number? If you do not have Internet access, you may be asked to enter a serial number during installation. To find the serial number associated with your CS6 product, go to the Adobe accounts page. Under Plans & Products, click View all, and then click View your products.

      Note:

If you have trouble connecting to the Adobe activation server during installation, see Sign in, activation, or connection errors for helping resolving the issue.

If you have a redemption code (for example, from a card, box insert, or email) here's how to redeem the code and start installing your product.

    Note:

    1. Do one of the following:

      • Have an Adobe ID? Enter it and your Adobe password, and click Sign In.
      • Don't have an Adobe ID? Click Get an Adobe ID and follow the onscreen instructions.
    2. Enter your 24-character alphanumeric redemption code and click Redeem.

19-character code? If your card has a 19-character code, you may have a product code for a Student and Teacher edition. See Serial numbers, redemption codes, and product codes | Student and Teacher editions.

      Tip:

Get an “invalid code” error? Make sure that you found the right number (24-characters with both letters and numbers) and that you typed it correctly. It is easy to confuse some numbers and letters, such as zero and one with the letters "O" and "I."

    3. Depending on the product you purchased, you’ll see your serial number, a download link, or both.

Serial number If a serial number appears, use it to install your application. Adobe registers your product and stores your serial number in your Adobe account.

Download link If a download link appears, click Download. Adobe Application Manager or the Creative Cloud desktop app downloads and installs your application. No serial number is necessary.

    Locate your redemption code

Can't locate your redemption code? Use the information below to find your code. Then follow the steps under Use your redemption code to redeem your code and start using your product.

Your redemption code is located beneath the scratch-off foil on the back of the card. To install your product, use your redemption code to obtain a serial number or activate your membership or subscription. See Use your redemption code.

    Prepaid card

Depending on the product, your redemption code may be on an insert or on the product box. Check all the product box components. You must redeem your code before you can install your product. See Use your redemption code.

    Product box and inserts

Numbers-only code? If you have a product box, you may have a serial number and not a redemption code. A redemption code contains both letters and numbers. A serial number is a 24-character numeric (numbers only) code.

    Note:

If you have a serial number, you don't need to redeem a code before installing your product. See Download and installation help if you need help.

Some stores and online retailers email a redemption code or serial number to you when you purchase a product.

    Email from reseller

Code with letters and numbers If you receive a redemption code (an alphanumeric code containing both letters and numbers), you must redeem it before you can install your product. See Use your redemption code.

Code with only numbers If you receive a serial number (a 24-character numeric code), you can use the number while installing the product. You do not need to convert it first. See Download and installation help.

If you are a student or teacher and purchased your product with an education discount, see Serial numbers, redemption codes, and product codes | Student & Teacher editions.

    Troubleshooting FAQ

Looking for quick answers? Here are some common questions.

My redemption code is invalid. What’s going on?

    Try these solutions:

    • Make sure that you typed the code correctly. Redemption codes contain both letters and numbers. It’s easy to confuse some numbers and letters, such as zero and one with the letters "0" and "I."
    • Make sure that you're entering the code at the correct redemption site. You could have entered the redemption code for a purchased product instead of for a membership, or for a membership instead of for a purchased product. Be sure that you enter the code at the redemption site noted on your insert, card, or email.
    • Make sure that the code you are entering is a redemption code and not some other type of code. Other codes—such as a numeric UPC code on your insert, card, or email—are not your redemption code. To double-check that you do indeed have a redemption code, find out what code you have.
    • Access your account information. You may have your subscription or product available and registered in your Adobe account. Check your Adobe account.

I can’t find my redemption code sticker.

Contact your reseller if your product is missing the redemption code sticker or insert.

Help! I’m getting this error: "Oops! This card was purchased in a country that doesn’t match your Adobe ID. You can try signing in with a different Adobe ID or get in touch with us if you need help.”

    Please contact us.

I keep getting prompted for a serial number while trying to launch an app or sign in to my Creative Cloud account. I thought I didn’t need a serial number for Creative Cloud.

You’re right—you don’t need a serial number. You may, however, need to activate your Creative Cloud membership.

For solutions to this issue, see Creative Cloud app asks for serial number.
