Add grain to your image non-destructively using the Grain adjustment layer in Adobe Photoshop.

Select File > Open to browse and select an image.

In the Layers panel, select Create new fill or adjustment layer and then Grain  .

In the Properties panel, move these sliders to adjust the grain appearance.

  • Amount: Controls the overall intensity of the grain.
  • Size: Adjusts the size of individual grain particles.
  • Roughness: Alters the randomness of the grain for a smoother or rougher look.
The Adobe Photoshop interface showing the Grain adjustment layer properties panel with Amount, Size, and Roughness sliders set high, applied to a landscape of a snowy mountain, autumn trees, and grassy hillside.
Adjust texture and add a film-like effect to images with the Grain adjustment layer in Photoshop.

Name the layer, set layer options, and press Enter (or Return on macOS).
