Learn how to convert scanned content into editable text using Acrobat on mobile.

Scanned PDFs contain images of text. Acrobat uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to convert scanned text into editable content. To edit text in scanned files, you need an Adobe Acrobat subscription.

Use Acrobat on mobile
Work with PDFs faster using AI, insights, and essential tools anywhere.

Open the app

Open the scanned file in Acrobat on Android.

Tap More tools > Recognize text.

After recognition is complete, a confirmation message appears.

Tap the text you want to edit and select Edit text from the context menu. Then, you can:

Align text
Apply italic formatting
Change the font or font size
Underline text
Apply bold formatting
Highlight text
