Ask questions about the sources in a Student Space, then review citations to verify AI-generated answers.
Note
Student Spaces is available only in Acrobat on Android. It isn't available on iOS.
The AI uses the files, web links, and pasted text in the Student Space to answer your questions. When a response draws from those sources, citations connect the answer to the supporting content so you can review its context.

Ask questions about your study materials
You can start a chat from Overview or Chat.
Start from Overview
Enter a question or describe what you want to study in the input field.
Select Send.
The question and AI-generated response open in Chat.
Start from Chat
Open the Student Space you want to use.
Select Chat in the top navigation bar.
Enter your question.
Select Send.
The AI generates a response using the sources in the Student Space.
Ask effective questions
Use direct prompts that describe the result you need. For example:
- Summarize this material in bullet points.
- Identify the main arguments across these sources.
- Explain this concept in plain language.
- Compare how the sources describe this topic.
- Break the material into three main themes.
- List the most important points to review.
Ask follow-up questions to change the response. You can request a shorter explanation, more detail, a different format, or simpler language.
Review citations
Responses include citations when the AI uses source content from the Student Space.
To review a citation:
- Select the citation in the response.
- Review the extracted source content in the panel.
- Select the citation in the panel to open the source document.
Review the cited passage and its surrounding context before relying on an AI-generated answer for an assignment, exam, or other academic work.
Note
A response doesn't include citations when it doesn't use source content from the Student Space.
Continue working with the response
After reviewing an answer, you can:
- Ask follow-up questions in Chat.
- Save useful information to Notes.
- Return to Sources to review or update the source material.
- Generate study tools based on the sources in the Student Space.
Adding or removing source content affects future chats. It doesn't revise responses that the AI generated previously.
Note
When sharing a space with another party, Notes are shared, but Chats are not.
Save a response as a note
Save useful information when you want to keep it outside the chat.
- Find the response you want to save.
- Select the Notes icon.
The most recent question and response are added to Notes. Saved notes remain available even if the chat is deleted.
