Log Collector tool overview

Last updated on Sep 2, 2025

Understand the Adobe Log Collector tool and how Adobe stores, secures, and transports your log files.

The Adobe Log Collector tool gathers logs from your device and sends them to Adobe. This helps us find bugs, enhance app performance, and respond to customer questions.

Log creation

When you run the Log Collector tool, it gathers relevant files and information from your computer:

  • Encrypted Adobe User ID
  • Product serial number
  • Debug and installer log information

The tool compiles the information into a signed ZXP log file. The tool provides an option to securely upload this ZXP file to Adobe's servers.

A local copy of the file is saved on your device in plain text without encryption. You can easily access and view these logs.

Log data security and transport

To ensure the security of the collected data, the logs are transported securely using:

  • Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2
  • HTTPS Protocol
  • SHA-256 Encryption

Once uploaded to Adobe’s internal network, the logs are stored on a secure network file system behind Adobe’s firewall. Adobe follows strict security protocols to protect this data:

  • Secure Data Deletion Standard
  • Network Security Standard
  • Data Classification and Handling Standard

Data storage and retention

Adobe stores all log data in its data centers, ensuring no external storage or access through cloud services. The logs are retained for 30 days from the upload date, adhering to GDPR and other regulatory guidelines.

After 30 days, Adobe securely removes data from all systems. Only authorized Adobe Support and Engineering teams can access these logs. They use multifactor authentication to access internal tools.
