Issue: Photoshop Elements Editor or Adobe Premiere Elements Editor do not start

One of the following errors occurs:

  • While trying to use the Mac App Store versions of Photoshop Elements 13 or Adobe Premiere Elements 13, the Editors do not start. Or,
  • The following error message is displayed:

    Please do not launch this application from within this Application Package. Instead, launch Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 & Adobe Premiere Elements 13 from your Applications folder.

 

Solution: Clean damaged folders and reinstall your app

Fixing the error and enabling Photoshop Elements Editor or Adobe Premiere Elements Editor to start is a two-step process:

  1. Cleaning the folders:
    1. In a Finder window or tab, click Go > Go to Folder.
    2. Type ~/Library/Containers, and click Go.
    3. Search for all folders that contain the word adobe in their names and delete them.
    4. In a Finder window or tab, click Go > Go to Folder.
    5. Type ~/Library/Group Containers, and click Go.
    6. Search for a folder named JQ525L2MZD.pepe.
    7. {Exercise Caution while performing this step} In the folder: JQ525L2MZD.pepe:

      • Do NOT delete folder: JQ525L2MZD.pepe/Application Support/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs.

      • Delete: Other than the folder stated above, delete all other files and folders inside JQ525L2MZD.pepe.
         
  2. Reinstall the software:
    1. Uninstall your Elements software, and make sure that the app is not available anymore.
    2. Clear the Trash folder on your computer. 
    3. Restart your Mac.
    4. Reinstall your app from the Mac App Store.
    5. Start your app.
