"Editor has stopped working" error message upon launch

When you try to launch Photoshop Elements 15 on a Windows machine, you get the following error message:

Editor has stopped working

When you check the Event Viewer logs, the Faulting module is LavasoftTcpService64.dll.

Solution: Uninstall Web Companion

Follow the below mentioned steps to uninstall the Web Companion:

  1. Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Programs and choose Programs and Features.

  2. Find and select Web Companion.

  3. Click Uninstall.

  4. Launch Photoshop Elements.
