This document describes the procedures to customize the Creative Cloud desktop app using the ServiceConfig.xml.

As an administrator, you can enable or disable the apps panel in the Creative Cloud Desktop app that is deployed to your end user.

The option to enable or disable the Apps panel is available in the Configure screen of the Create a Package workflow in the Admin Console. In Creative Cloud Packager, this option is available in the Package Details dialog.

Unchecking this option, hides the apps panel in the Creative Cloud desktop application on end-user computers.

Following are the steps to enable or disable the Apps panel using the ServieConfig.xml:

  1. Locate the ServiceConfig.xml file:

    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\ Configs\ServiceConfig.xml
    • Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/Configs/ServiceConfig.xml
  2. In the file, locate the <visible> element and change the content to True or False (Default) to enable or disable the Apps panel.

Allow or disallow end users to update and install apps

You can choose to allow or disallow your end user to update and install apps on their computers.

This option is available in the Configure screen of the Create a Package workflow in the Admin Console. In Creative Cloud Packager, this option is available in the Package Details dialog.

Following are the steps to allow or disallow your end user to update and install apps on their computers.

  1. Locate the ServiceConfig.xml file:

    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\ Configs\ServiceConfig.xml
    • Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/Configs/ServiceConfig.xml
  2. In the file, locate the <feature> element and set the content of the <enabled> child element to True or False (Default) to enable or disable Elevated privileges.

Configure AEM Assets preferences

Adobe Experience Manager provides digital asset management capabilities that help you gain control over digital assets to deliver high-quality brand, campaign, and content experiences. Using the Creative Cloud app for desktop, you can connect to to your organization's AEM Assets repository and directly access and add files to AEM Assets.

Deploy configuration file

You can remotely deploy AEM Asset server settings to client computers, by deploying a configuration file to the client computers.

Following are the steps to specify the AEM Asset server settings:

  1. Locate the ServiceConfig.xml file:

    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\ Configs\ServiceConfig.xml
    • Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/Configs/ServiceConfig.xml
  2. In the file, add an aempreferences element with values for your AEM Assets instance:

             <hostname>aem-assets</hostname>

              <portnumber>4502</portnumber>

              <driveletter>X:</driveletter>

              <usessl>false</usessl>

      </aempreferences>

    </config>

The driveletter and usessl elements are required for Windows only

Modify registry (Windows only)

On Windows, to successfully connect to an AEM Assets instance that is not secured with SSL, basic authentication over unsecured network must be enabled in Windows. Enabling this option requires a change in the Windows Registry of the WebClient.

  1. Locate the registry subkey:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
  2. Add the BasicAuthLevel registry entry to this subkey using a value of 2 or more.

  3. Restart the WebClient service using the Service console.
