Troubleshoot launch errors using logs | Creative Cloud

About Creative Cloud product launch logs

When you launch a Creative Cloud product or component, the software generates a log file (amt3.log) for the shared components that the applications use. These shared technologies are called Application Managed Technologies (AMT). AMT includes the Software License Agreement, Enter Serial Number, Enter Serial Number Upgrade, Adobe ID, and Activation panels.

Analyze the main Creative Cloud product launch log

  1. Navigate to the amt3.log log file in one of the following folders:

    • Windows 7/8: \Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Temp
    • Mac OS X: ~/Library/Logs/

Note: Some files and folders are hidden on Windows. See Show hidden files, folders, filename extensions | Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8 for more information.

Note: The user Library folder is hidden on Mac OS 10.7 and later. See Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later for more information.

  2. Open amt3.log in a text editor such as WordPad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac OS).
  3. Read the log line by line. Each line indicates an action that AMT takes. Lines that describe an error or failure indicate a problem with the launch process.

Note: Each line is a new entry in the log file.
  4. Search the Adobe knowledgebase for a document that provides a solution to each error message you find in the log.

Important: Omit paths and machine-specific information from search strings. For example, search “Error rolling back command ARKCreateDirectoryCommand” or “Unable to create directory.”

  5. If you cannot find a document for an error, see Installation and launch log errors | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC.
