Clean up image layers

Learn how to clean up your image layers by automatically deleting empty layers and renaming them with Layer Cleanup in Adobe Photoshop on desktop.

Select File > Open to select and open an image.

From the Layers panel, select the Layer Cleanup   icon.

In the Layer Cleanup dialog box, select an option:

  • Delete empty layers: Photoshop removes all blank pixel and text layers from the document.
  • Rename layers: Photoshop assigns descriptive names to layers based on their content.

Select the scope of cleanup:

  • Entire document: Photoshop cleans all layers
  • Selected layers: Photoshop cleans only the selected layers

Select Apply.

Delete

Select File > Open to select and open an image.

From the Layers panel, select the Layer Cleanup   icon.

In the Layer Cleanup dialog box, select Delete empty layers.

Select scope, then Apply.

नोट:

If no layers are removed, the document may not contain any empty layers.

Rename

Select File > Open to select and open an image.

From the Layers panel, select the Layer Cleanup   icon.

In the Layer Cleanup dialog box, select Rename layers.

Select scope, then Apply.
