Test features that are still in the Technology Preview phase in Photoshop

Topics in this article:

With Technology Preview, Photoshop ships previews of features in development that you can try out. These features may not be completely production-ready yet, so exercise discretion while using them.

Access Technology Previews

  1. Select Preferences > Technology Previews.

  2. Select or deselect any of the available options for the technology preview feature, as required for your workflow.

  3. Click OK.

All these changes will take effect the next time you start Photoshop.

List of Technology Previews

Use Modifier Keys Palette

नोट:

With the March release of Photoshop 24.3, we will no longer support the Technology Preview - Modifier Keys Palette.

Default state: On

The Modifier Keys Palette is a toolbar that provides quick access to frequently used keyboard modifiers on the Windows touch devices, such as the Surface Pro 3.

Enable Preserve Details 2.0 Upscale

Default state: On

Photoshop now features artificial intelligence-assisted upscaling to preserve important details and textures while resizing images without introducing distortions. In addition to skin tones and hair textures, this feature preserves harder-edged details like text and logos. Try it on soups, salads, pizza, and any other subjects that need that extra dash of texture preservation.

To enable, check Enable Preserve Details 2.0 Upscale in Preferences > Technology Previews.

To use, choose Image > Image Size and select Preserve Details 2.0 from Resample options.

Enable Content-Aware Tracing Tool

Default state: Off

Enabling this tool allows you to make paths or shapes following the edges in an image.

To enable, check Enable Content-Aware Tracing tool in Preferences > Technology Previews.

To use, select the Content-Aware Tracing tool from the tool palette. If you cannot find it grouped with other Pen tools, you may need to add the tool using the Customize Toolbar option. The Content-Aware Tracing tool also requires Use Graphics Processor to be enabled in Preferences > Performance.

Deactivate Native Canvas

Default state: Off

Enable the option if you experience problems with 3D content or on-canvas visuals not appearing properly.

Deactivate Native Canvas also requires Use Graphics Processor to be enabled in Preferences > Performance.

Enable Native Canvas Rulers

Default state: On

Enable GPU acceleration for ruler rendering.

Enable Native Canvas Rulers requires Disable Native Canvas to be turned off in Preferences > Technology Previews.

Older GPU mode (Pre 2016)

Default state: Off

Enable this feature if your graphics processing unit (GPU) is older than 2016 or does not support DirectX 12 or later, or if you experience performance instability and have an older GPU. When enabled, Photoshop will use older GPU protocols for better stability on computer systems with older GPUs. This option may also help when using virtual GPUs (as with virtual machines) or even newer cards with older GPU drivers. Restart Photoshop for changes to take effect.

To enable, check Older GPU Mode (Pre 2016) in Preferences > Technology Previews.

Always ensure that your operating system (Windows or macOS) and your GPU drivers are up to date.
