Adjust tonal range using Curve

Last updated on Jun 5, 2026

Learn how to use the tone Curve graph to adjust color channels and create custom tonal adjustments in your photos.

Use Curve when you need granular control over specific tonal ranges in your photo. The Curve graph maps original tone values (input) to adjusted tone values (output), letting you target highlights, midtones, and shadows independently. For broader tonal adjustments, use the basic Light panel sliders first.

Access and adjust the Point Curve

Select a photo to open it in Detail view.

Select Edit > Light .

Select Curve to display the tone curve graph overlaid on your photo.

In the Curve panel, do one of the following:

  • Select Red Channel, Green Channel, or Blue Channel icons to adjust a single color channel.
  • Select White Channel to adjust all three channels simultaneously.

Select anywhere on the curve line to add an adjustment point.

Drag the point up to brighten that tonal range or down to darken it.

Add additional points as needed to refine different tonal ranges in your photo.

Double-tap any point on the curve to remove it.

Select DONE to save your settings.

Access and adjust the Parametric Curve
