Customize mask overlay display
Open a photo in Detail view, and then select Masking .
Select the Options icon.
In the MASK OVERLAY panel, manage the following settings:
- Show always: Toggle on to display the mask overlay on the photo.
- Mode: Select how the mask overlay appears on the photo:
- Color Overlay: Displays the mask using a colored overlay.
- Color Overlay on B&W: Shows the mask in color while the rest of the photo appears in black and white.
- Image on B&W: Displays the masked area in original color and the rest of the photo in black and white.
- Image on Black: Shows the masked area on a black background.
- Image on White: Shows the masked area on a white background.
- White on Black: Displays the mask in white on a black background.
- Color: Select an overlay color to improve visibility.
- Opacity: Adjust the overlay's transparency using the slider.
In the TOOL OVERLAY section, toggle on Show always to keep the tool overlay visible while editing.
Add to an existing mask
In the Masks panel, select a mask to expand it.
Select Add to, followed by the mask number or name you want to modify.
In the Add to panel, select a masking tool to add the new mask area.
Use the tool to define the additional area you want to include in the mask.
Subtract from an existing mask
In the Masks panel, select a mask to expand it.
Select Subtract from followed by the mask number or name you want to modify.
In the Subtract from panel, select a masking tool to remove or refine areas of the mask.
Use the tool to define the area you want to exclude from the mask.
Rename a mask
In the Masks panel, select a mask to expand it.
Select More next to the mask or component you want to rename.
Select Rename from the menu that appears.
Enter the new mask name and select OK.
Invert a mask group
In the Masks panel, select and hold the mask group you want to invert.
Select Invert Mask in the menu that appears.
All masking components in the mask group will be inverted. The first component of the mask group will be inverted, while the remaining components will have the Add to or Subtract from mode toggled, resulting in an overall inverted mask.
Invert a mask component
In the Masks panel, select a mask group to expand it.
Select a mask component to open the Mask options panel.
Slide the panel outwards to reveal component options.
Select the Invert icon for the specific component you want to reverse.
Duplicate and invert a mask group
In the Masks panel, select and hold the mask group you want to duplicate.
Select Duplicate & Invert Mask from the menu.
To duplicate an individual mask, select More next to the mask or component, and then select Duplicate from the menu that appears.
Remove a mask
In the Masks panel, select a mask to expand it.
Select More next to the mask group or mask component.
Do one of the following to remove the mask:
- Hide: Select Hide to hide the mask from the Masks panel.
- Delete: Select Delete to delete a mask permanently.
