Upload or download is stuck on iOS

Resolve SSL connection errors by force-quitting and restarting Lightroom for mobile.

When Adobe Lightroom on iOS encounters an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) error, your photo uploads to the cloud or downloads from your synced library may stop responding or appear stuck in progress.

Photos remain in an upload or download state, with a progress indicator that doesn't advance. The sync icon may show activity, but no file transfer is complete. An SSL error message may appear, or sync simply stops without a visible error.

This issue typically resolves with a simple app restart:

A temporary SSL handshake failure between the app and Adobe’s cloud servers interrupts the secure connection required for photo transfer. After restarting, Lightroom re-establishes a fresh SSL connection and resumes uploading or downloading your photos.

  1. On your iOS device, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle (or double-press the Home button on older devices)
  2. Locate the Lightroom app card in the app switcher
  3. Swipe up on the Lightroom card to force quit the app
  4. Return to the Home screen and select the Lightroom icon to restart the app
  5. Wait for Lightroom to reconnect and resume sync automatically

If sync issues persist after restarting, verify that your device has a stable internet connection and that you're signed in to your Adobe account. For ongoing sync problems, see Troubleshoot sync issues in Lightroom.
