Resolve preset application failures by clearing the cache, restarting the app, and refreshing the sync.
When applying presets to videos in Adobe Lightroom on iOS, you may experience issues where the preset fails to take effect on the first several attempts. This typically occurs when working with unedited video clips and can disrupt your editing workflow.
After opening an unedited video in Detail view and selecting a preset from the Premium or Yours categories, the preset appears to apply, but the video shows no visible changes. Selecting Done returns you to the Detail view, but the video remains unedited. Repeating the process multiple times, including navigating back to the grid and re-entering Detail view, may eventually result in successful preset application, but only after several failed attempts.
The following solutions address the most common causes of preset application failures, listed in order of likelihood:
Cached video preview data is interfering with real-time preset rendering, causing the app to display the original video instead of the edited version. After restarting the app, the video cache clears, and the presets should apply immediately.
- Close the video in Detail view and return to the grid.
- Force-close the Lightroom app by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and swiping the app away.
- Relaunch the Lightroom app.
- Open the video again and apply the desired preset.
- Verify the preset takes effect by checking the video thumbnail and playing back the clip.
If restarting the app doesn't resolve the issue, sync conflicts between your device and cloud storage may be preventing edits from saving properly:
Sync conflicts or incomplete cloud uploads are preventing preset settings from being stored with the video file. The forced sync refresh should resolve any conflicts and allow preset changes to be saved correctly.
- Ensure you have an active internet connection.
- Select the Cloud icon to check sync status.
- Wait for any pending uploads or downloads to complete.
- Select More > Sync Settings.
- Toggle Sync with Lightroom off, wait 10 seconds, then toggle it back on.
- Return to your video and apply the preset again.
If neither solution resolves the preset application issue, the problem may be related to the specific video file or require Adobe Technical Support assistance. Try applying presets to a different video to determine if the issue is file-specific, and consider contacting Adobe Support if the problem persists across multiple videos.
Premium presets and video editing capabilities require an active Lightroom subscription. If you’re using the free version of Lightroom for mobile, some preset categories may be restricted. Learn more about Lightroom plans and features.
