Enable HIPAA readiness for Analyzer in Acrobat

Last updated on Sep 10, 2026

Request HIPAA readiness before your organization uses Analyzer in Acrobat to process protected health information (PHI).

An applicable Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Adobe must be in place, and Adobe must enable HIPAA readiness for your organization before you process PHI in Analyzer.

Request HIPAA readiness

Contact your Adobe Sales contact and ask to enable HIPAA readiness for Analyzer in Acrobat.

In your request:

  • Ask Adobe to enable HIPAA readiness for Analyzer in Acrobat.
  • Provide your Account ID.
  • State that your organization intends to process PHI using Analyzer.

If Adobe determines that an applicable BAA is needed, Adobe will provide the agreement for your organization to complete.

Note

If your organization already has a BAA with Adobe, Adobe determines whether the existing agreement applies to your use of Analyzer. You don't need to make that determination before submitting your request.

What Adobe does next

After receiving your request, Adobe:

  • Determines whether an applicable BAA is already in place for your organization.
  • Provides a BAA for your organization to complete if one is required.
  • Confirms that the applicable BAA has been executed.
  • Enables HIPAA readiness for Analyzer.
  • Notifies your organization when enablement is complete.

You don't need to configure any HIPAA enablement settings in Analyzer.

Confirm that HIPAA readiness is enabled

Product administrators can view the HIPAA readiness status in Settings > General Settings.

The Linked HIPAA Business Associate Agreement setting is read-only. Adobe updates it as part of the HIPAA enablement process. You can't select or clear it yourself.

Before HIPAA readiness is enabled:

Before HIPAA readiness is enabled, the BAA status is unselected.

After HIPAA readiness is enabled:

After Adobe completes HIPAA enablement, the BAA status is selected.

A selected status indicates that Adobe has linked your Analyzer organization to an applicable executed BAA and enabled HIPAA readiness. Your organization may then process PHI in Analyzer in accordance with its BAA with Adobe and applicable HIPAA requirements.

For more information about the setting and its states, see View HIPAA readiness status in Analyzer in Acrobat.

Things to know

  • Linked HIPAA Business Associate Agreement is a status indicator, not a setting you can configure.
  • An executed BAA alone doesn't enable HIPAA readiness. Adobe must also complete enablement for Analyzer.
  • Don't process PHI in Analyzer until Adobe confirms that HIPAA readiness is enabled.
  • Your organization remains responsible for using Analyzer in accordance with its BAA and applicable HIPAA requirements.
