Learn how a system administrator can turn off the welcome PDF that the Acrobat extension opens in a new browser tab for all users in an organization.
Welcome PDF in a new browser tab
When a user adds the Acrobat extension to the browser, the welcome PDF opens in a new tab.
A system administrator can turn off this welcome PDF for all users in an organization. The administrator configures Group Policies that preconfigure the Acrobat extension, and Acrobat reads and enforces these policies through the storage.managed API.
The storage.managed_schema property points to a file within the extension that contains the policy schema.

Turn off the welcome PDF using Group Policy
An administrator can configure this policy in the schema.json file to turn off the welcome PDF.
Turn off the welcome PDF on Windows
Press Windows + R, enter regedit in the Open field, and then select OK.
Go to the registry key for your browser. Create the key if it isn’t already listed.

Note
For the Chromium browser, you can also use the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Create a string value named OpenHelpx and set it to False.
After you configure the policy, it appears under Chrome Policies at chrome://policy/.
Turn off the welcome PDF on macOS
You can configure the policy through MCX preferences for the Chrome bundle com.google.Chrome.extensions.efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj, or the Chromium bundle org.chromium.Chromium.extensions.efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj. Create a plist file with the configuration and import it using dscl.
Create a plist file with this configuration:

The first key indicates the bundle ID to configure. Each policy maps first to its metadata, and its setting appears inside the value key. The state key determines how often MCX preferences enforce the policy; set it to always to keep the policy in place at all times.
Import the configuration with dscl using an administrator account:

Substitute admin_username with a valid administrator username, and configuration.plist with the path to the plist file. For simplicity, put the plist file on the desktop and run the commands from the desktop folder in Terminal.
If dscl reports an invalid path, create a node for the local computer with these commands:

To apply the changes immediately, refresh the system preferences:

If a user runs Chrome with the Managed Bookmarks extension, Chrome loads this policy within 10 seconds. To load the policy immediately, select Reload policies in chrome://policy/. For more information, refer to the Chromium documentation.
