Last updated on May 12, 2026

Learn how to use Acrobat for Copilot to edit text, organize pages, and add annotations to PDFs more efficiently.

Use Acrobat for Copilot to edit text, organize pages, or add annotations to a PDF directly from the Copilot chat. You can make quick updates in the preview, or switch to the full Acrobat editor for more advanced text and image edits.

Before you begin

Ensure Adobe Acrobat is connected to Microsoft Copilot. Open Copilot, go to All agents, search for Adobe Acrobat, select the agent, choose Add, and sign in if prompted.

In the Copilot chat box, select Add and manage sources > More All agents > Adobe Acrobat

Start your chat by describing what you want to do. For example:

  • Edit this PDF.
  • Create a single job application PDF by merging my resume, cover letter, and references.
  • Extract key financial metrics from this scanned quarterly report.
  • Compress my file to share over email.

Upload the required PDF file.

Acrobat processes the file and opens it in an interactive Acrobat editor.

In the Acrobat editor, select the text you want to review, then choose an option from the context menu:

  • Comment: Add a comment or note, then type your feedback.
  • Highlight, Underline, or Strikethrough: Mark important text or indicate suggested changes.
  • Annotation color: Change the annotation color before applying it, if needed.
Acrobat for Copilot editor shows PDF editor pane with highlighted text and context menu options to add annotations.
Use annotations to review, mark up, or collaborate on a PDF without modifying the original content.

To edit text or images, select Edit to open the full-screen editor and make your changes.

Edit text:

  • Click inside a text block
  • Type to update or replace content
  • Use the formatting tools to adjust styles such as bold or font size

Edit images:

  • Select an image to move, resize, or replace it
  • Use the image controls in the editor pane to adjust the image

Changes are applied directly to the PDF as you work.

Review and confirm your text changes before saving them.

Select Save and then close the full-screen mode.

Optionally, you can organize, combine, or compress the PDF by giving follow-up prompts and using the editor to complete the action.

Select Proceed to confirm the action and then select Download  to save the updated PDF to your device.
